Assistant Headteacher, Deputy Safeguarding Lead & SENCO
My name is Sophie Neilson. I am the KS2 class teacher.  I have taught for ten years and upon returning from two years in sunny Dubai, moved to teaching in alternative provision. Teaching at Cornerstone is truly the highlight of my career so far and working with our children daily is a privilege. Outside of school I love practicing yoga, experimenting with cooking different cuisines and exploring the Cheshire countryside.

Teacher
Hello, my name is Hannah Cooper and I am the KS1 class teacher. I have taught in mainstream schools for six years previously before moving to Cornerstone Academy. Working with children has always been my passion and I believe it is what I was born to do. Outside of school, I love shopping, spending time with friends and family and cuddling up on the sofa with my Cockerpoo, Moose.

Learning Mentor
Hi, my name is Val Hough. I have worked in primary school settings supporting Early Years development for over 30 years. My experience in recent years has been more in the support of whole class, small groupwork, and one to one interventions in mainstream primary education, with my focus being on booster support for core curriculum subjects and nurture interventions for emotional and social wellbeing.  I am extremely pleased to be able to join this team and to support children individually to find their talents which will enable them to be able to grow and succeed through their school journey. In my spare time I enjoy walking and spending time with my family and my two dogs.

Office Manager
Hi, my name is Anne Williams.  I have worked as a support member of staff in schools since 2001.  I worked in nursery and out of school care in Scotland and  primary & secondary here in Cheshire.   It’s nice to be working in  such a privileged position, helping to support and re-engage our children as they are our future!  I live locally with my family and my black Labrador called Bracken.  I love to garden, bake, walk the dog and read – I love reading!

Learning Mentor / Pastoral Lead
I’m Amanda Whitehead a Learning Mentor.  It’s a rewarding role helping disengaged children return to full time education.  I have worked with pre and primary school aged children for over 12 years whilst raising a family. I have a son and daughter both studying at university. Outside of work I enjoy attending my local gym and walking my black labrador, Jamie.

Trainee Teacher
Hello, my name is Declan Coxon and I am a Trainee Teacher at Cornerstone Academy. This is my first step to working in the education sector after graduating from University.  I thoroughly enjoy being able to help and support the students in a classroom environment. I love to stretch and challenge the students through the use of PE, allowing the students to develop their social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills.  Outside of work, I try to take part in as much sport as I possibly can, as it has been a love and passion of mine since a very early age.  I also enjoy travelling with my partner and seeing the many places our world has to offer, spending time with my family and looking after my young nephew.

Learning Mentor
Hi, my name is Gemma Plevin.  I am a Learning Mentor.  I have worked with children for over 5 years, starting off in private nursery and furthering my career along the way.  I have a large family myself and there is nothing more rewarding in helping others where needed, encouraging them to shine.  Having a busy life, I like to have a routine, keeping everything ticking over.  I enjoy walks and family time making lots of memories.
